It depends on which Operating System you are using.  Are you using Redhat?  Something else in the 
Redhat family such as Scientific-Linux, CentOS or something?  Please let us know which Operating 
System you are using so we can help with the desktop integration.  


You don't really "need" the desktop integration packages.  In 'western' countries people use the 
word "need" far too much when they really mean "it might be quite nice" or "you might like".  Of 
course the term "western countries" is quite dumb considering that we all live on the same rotating 
ball and everywhere is eventually west of anywhere.  


Desktop integration is mostly about making LibreOffice look prettier.  At most it might include 
some improved context menus that you get when you right-click on files before opening them.  You 
don't really need them.  


So the 4 questions i have are 
1.  Have you been able to download LO from the official website?
2.  Have you been able to install the official version of LO, (apart from the desktop integration)? 
 

3.  Does LO seem to work?  
4.  Which OS are you using?
