I think these are fantastic news for two reasons:

1) because MinGW is an open source C compiler and is the obvious choice for
an open source office suite like LO (doesn't make any sense relying on
Microsoft Visual C++ compiler...)

I think this point "1" is the all reasons what are needed to switch from m$ to MinGW.
